First photographic record of Chitoria sordida sordida (Moore, 1866) (Insecta: Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae: Apaturinae) from Arunachal Pradesh, India

The paper divulges details on the addition of Chitoria sordida sordida (Moore, 1866) (Nymphalidae: Apaturinae) to lepidopteran fauna checklist of Arunachal Pradesh, India. The manuscript highlights particulars of the first sighting of Himalayan Sordid Emperor Chitoria sordida sordida from Lunkai nalla situated in the Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve. The observation was made on 16 October 2024 and the species confirmation of the brush-footed butterfly was affirmed based on standard taxonomic keys. The species is legally protected under Schedule II of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Act, 2022.
