Decline in winter visiting Common Kestrel Falco tinnunculus (Falconiformes: Falconidae) at Rani, Assam 2011–2024

The Common Kestrel Falco tinnunculus was recorded along the metal road in Rani block, Kamrup district, Assam. The observations carried out for 14 years during winter season, as the species is migratory. Out of 422 sightings, on 388 occasions they were sighted singly, while on 34 occasions in a pair. The encounter rate has been declined after year 2020, and no Kestrel sighting recorded after 2022. The urgency of detailed study on the causes of decline is expressed.
