Genus Leucas R.Br. (Lamiaceae) comprises 50 taxa in India and has 30 endemic taxa which are mainly distributed in southern parts of India and it is medicinally important as a whole and almost every species has unique medicinal value and are widely used by traditional healers in India as well as in other countries. In the present study we have compiled 12 rare taxa, which are endemic and are known only by their type collections. They have not been included in the Red Data Books of Indian Plants. Intensive surveys in the type localities and other possible habitats are urgently needed to recollect these taxa and to determine their current conservation status.Published
