First record of Painted Stork Mycteria leucocephala in Indonesia

Painted Stork Mycteria leucocephala is a stork that is abundant in Asia. On 19 January 2022, a Painted Stork was observed with 11 Milky Storks Mycteria cinerea in the coastal zone of North Sumatra province. In addition, three M. leucocephala were documented on 31 January 2025 in Percut, northern Sumatra, nearly close to the previous site in 2022. This is the first record of the species in Indonesia.
