Abstract

 Significant altitudinal variation seen in the area ranging from 490 to 4,700 m has resulted into three distinct climate zones, viz, subtropical, temperate, and alpine in the district Rajouri which is home to a diverse range of plants and animals. The goal of the current study is to record and evaluate the diversity of bryophytes in district Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir. The checklist comprises of 118 species of bryophytes, out of which one species belongs to hornworts, 47 species to liverworts and the remaining 70 species to the mosses. This article includes an inventory of all known plant species along with their family, local distribution range, elevation, geographic coordinates, and habitat.
